Mazda is Changing the Environment One Piece of Technology at a Time

mazda

Mazda, through the efforts of a new environmental initiative, is making an effort to decrease the environmental impact of its vehicles and create a more sustainable future for drivers, passengers and the planet. Mazda, as part of the new initiative, is introducing new devices designed to reduce total carbon emissions. Here are a few of the environmentally friendly additions Mazda is making to their vehicles:

Brake Energy Regeneration System

Traditionally, gradual deceleration leads to wasted motion; but not at Mazda. Instead, the i-ELOOP system stores kinetic energy from the car when making stops at intersections, stop signs, or turns and reuses it to power the headlights, audio system and many other electrical devices later on. Ultimately the system is designed to conserve and reuse energy that often is wasted other wise.

Hydrogen Vehicles

Since 2006, Mazda has been leasing the Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the RX-8 Hydrogen PE to select drivers. The RX-8 was the world’s first practical use of a hydrogen rotary engine and started Mazda’s quest toward clean energy in their vehicles.

Electric Vehicles

Mazda has been leasing its Demio EV to select drivers since 2012, which takes its environmentally friendly approach and applies it to a whole vehicle.

Vehicle Recycling

Mazda became the first to develop a technology that recycles plastic bumpers from old or damaged vehicles into new raw material for bumpers on new cars. Bumper to bumper, Mazda does their best to create leave a lighter footprint. Pun intended.

Bio-Based Plastics

Mazda created the first high-strength, heat-resistant plant-derived bioplastic that is used for interior parts as well as fabric used to seat upholstery. Plastic used in the vehicle is often made from plant-derived materials that slow the use of petroleum and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

Aqua-Tech Paint Systems

Aqua-tech Paint System, a water based product developed by Mazda, cuts down on organic compound emissions by 78 percent without increasing energy output.
