Hello Improved Gasoline Cars, Goodbye Electric Cars

Electric vehicles have become increasingly popular in the last five years. They are better for the environment, as well easier on driver’s wallets. But electric cars might not be the answer to the pollution crisis. Could improved gasoline cars be just as good for the environment as electric cars? Mazda thinks so!

Unlike what is heard in the media, electric cars can cause pollution too. Further, electric cars can be more harmful to the environment if the electric power is not from a clean energy source. So if electric cars can produce just as much, or even more, pollution than gasoline cars, how can automakers save the environment?

To combat this problem, Mazda is taking a different route than other popular automotive companies are taking. Instead of spending millions of dollars to make their vehicles electric, Mazda is working on the Skyactiv-3. This new gas engine is allegedly just as clean as electric vehicles are!

The Skyactiv-3 would increase an engines thermal efficiency to nearly 56 percent! This would allow the engine to turn most of its fuel into power instead of waste. The waste that is produced becomes pollution, so the Skyactiv-3 engine would drastically help the environment. Mazda has not specified how they plan to increase thermal efficiency to 56 percent or when production would start on this new engine, but Mazda is thinking big about how they can help save the environment from excess pollution.
