Mazda Brings Playable Concept Car to Playstation
At Mazda of Orland Park, we are proud to be a part of such a forward-thinking company. We are often asking yourselves, what will they think of next? Well, how about a playable concept car that can be driven, virtually, in a video game? Pretty cool, right?
Mazda Motor Corp. is giving gamers the ability to virtually test drive the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 for the PlayStation4 video game called “Gran Turismo Sport.” Carmakers at Mazda have partnered with the game developers of Polyphony Digital to bring this playable concept to their video game. Due to the global pandemic, Mazda is adding a fun way for consumers to test drive their vehicles through their screens. Selling cars online is much different than buying consumer goods online, such as toys, clothes, and books. Mazda is hoping to get consumers to test out its driving features and get acclimated to their overall brand.
The eSports and digital motorsports worlds have been quickly rising in popularity and Mazda is looking to take advantage of the current state of affairs by giving fans and gamers a way to interact with their Mazda vehicles. For Mazda, this can be a start for further partnerships with esport companies down the road.
Mazda is also recalibrating its marketing approach to a digital community building strategy, a ploy used by large conglomerates such as Chipotle. This online branding strategy allows Mazda to deeply connect with their loyal fans and engage with them in conversations about their vehicles. Every Tuesday, racing fans can tune into Mazda’s Facebook page and the iRacing and ApexTV YouTube channels to watch weekly live races. During May, fans around the world tuned into The Ricmotech iRacing Global Mazda MX-5 Cup.
