Last month, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2021 Mazda CX-5 was selected for its highest award, the 2021 Top Safety Pick+. IIHS is an independent non-governmental safety-testing organization funded by the insurance industry.

2021 Mazda CX-5 Earns Top Safety Pick+
Manufactured after September 2020, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 safety level qualified for the 2021 Top Safety Pick+ awards with good ratings in all six of the IIHS’s crashworthiness evaluations. These tests included the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.
Additionally, the 2021 CX-5 earned superior rating in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention tests. Equipped with standard good-rated headlights, the 2021 CX-5 soared in all of the IIHS tests to earn the Top Safety Pick+ award.
