Mazda Co-Pilot, What Is It?

What Is The Mazda Co-Pilot

Now, Mazda is introducing a new feature of Mazda models to assist drivers even more: the Mazda Co-Pilot. It comes in addition to Mazda connected services, which provide a new level of driver-centric infotainment and connectivity. A new advanced driving assistance system, Mazda will offer the Co-Pilot on larger models beginning in 2022. Also, they have plans to extend it across the brand in the upcoming years. Introducing Mazda Co-Pilot 1.0

At this time, auto brands are moving toward electrification and semi-autonomous driving technologies. However, Mazda has committed to retaining the experience of driving. When possible, they preserve the driver’s ability to drive the vehicle. With Mazda Co-Pilot, Mazda will employ a “human-centric autonomous driving system.” The feature will add features like automatic emergency stop assistance, Traffic Jam Assist, and others to the automaker’s exciting collection of advanced driving assistance technologies offered under the i-ActivSense program.

Mazda Co-Pilot will also refine existing advanced driving assistance features. For example, it will upgrade the radar-based adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go capability, a lane-keeping assistance system, and a driver monitoring system. It will also add a full-speed-range lane-centering assistance technology that gives the automaker’s upcoming “large products” Level 2 hands-on assisted driving capability at higher speeds.

Which Models Are Equipped With Mazda Co-Pilot?

In order to integrate the Mazda Co-Pilot system into its lineup, Mazda plans to roll out the feature in stages like “building blocks,” starting with the brand’s larger products. We expect the Mazda CX-9 will be one of the first to feature the new advanced driving assistance system. However, Mazda hasn’t officially announced which specific vehicles will be equipped with Mazda Co-Pilot yet.

In this first stage, we believe it is likely that at least one other larger model will be equipped with Mazda Co-Pilot. With the discontinuation of the Mazda6 sedan, the company appears primed to replace it with an entry-luxury car. They previewed the Mazda Vision Coupe concept vehicle. Along with the CX-9, the production version of the Vision Coupe would allow Mazda to achieve its goal of rising into premium-brand territory with offerings like Mazda Co-Pilot.

Mazda Co-Pilot’s Leading Technology

With exciting new technology, Mazda Co-Pilot leads the industry with features other brands can’t compete with. One of the best new features of Mazda Co-Pilot is its ability to detect “a sudden change in the driver’s physical condition.” This means that if the vehicle’s driver becomes incapacitated in any way, such as by falling asleep or suffering a medical emergency, the technology will spring into action by switching into autonomous driving mode. It will then drive to a safe location, stop the vehicle, and place an emergency call to request help. This industry-leading new technology keeps drivers, passengers, and other vehicles out on the road safe from unexpected emergency situations.
