Mazda’s New Luxurious Rhodium White Paint
Mazda recently announced a new premium paint option called Rhodium White for the brand’s larger product line. The opulent new color will bring a more elevated aesthetic to its lineup, competing with automakers like BMW and Mercedes. Mazda has been developing into a higher class luxury brand and the new premium paint color is the latest display of the company’s growing prestige.
New Lineup Outfitted in Luxury
The new Mazda Rhodium White paint color will be available on select Mazda vehicles only. It will makes its debut as an option for the newly-released Mazda CX-60, and will also be available on the the upcoming Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 models. In addition, Rhodium White will be offered for new model years this fall.
Elevating the Brand’s Aesthetic
The newly developed white pigment, which is pure white inspired, is intended to contribute to raising the entire Mazda lineup into a higher luxury class. About the new white pigment paint, Mazda said, “Mazda believes color is a crucial part of what gives shape to a vehicle, and thus we are focusing efforts on developing colors that accentuate a dynamic and delicate expression via the Kodo – Soul of Motion design theme.”
Adding to Mazda’s Kodo Design
Mazda vehicles are built around the brand’s Kodo design, which provides a unique sense of style and aesthetic to its vehicles. Mazda’s Rhodium White color layer was inspired by Japanese aesthetics of simplistic beauty. The Rhodium White “accentuates the shadows on the surface of the vehicle, complementing its metallic texture” by doing away with any unnecessary colors or elements. Further, Rhodium White produces an ultra-thin high luminance to maintain the simplistic beauty of the Kodo design.
How Rhodium White Was Produced
To produce the smooth fine grain white color, Mazda utilized a process called Takumi Nuri, which produces an expressive color that uses only three layers: a clear layer, a thin reflective layer, and a color layer. This process helps reduce the thickness of typical paint packages. According to Mazda, Rhodium White also helps the reduction of CO2 emissions through efficient use of resources and supports Mazda’s mission to reduce its total carbon emissions at all its factories.
