New Mazda Engines Expected to Debut With the CX-90
Mazda is taking another step on its path to becoming a luxury automobile brand. The automotive manufacturer recently announced two brand new engines for there upcoming flagship vehicles: the Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-90. The engines include the brand-new turbocharged I6 and new plug-in hybrid powertrain options. Although the engines will make their initial debut in Mazda’s Australian market, there’s good reason to think the new engine options will be heading to North America soon.
Are New Mazda Engines on the Way?
Mazda has yet to officially confirm the new engines, but reports from several automotive sources suggest that new Mazda engines are on their way to North America. The I6 turbocharged Skyactiv-X engine will pair with a 48V mild-hybrid system to produce 280 horsepower and 331 lb.-ft. of torque. The power of the engine options will mean increased fuel efficiency, giving you a great fuel economy.
First Look at the 2024 Mazda CX-90
“Harnessing the power of light and shadow,” the 2024 Mazda CX-90 was officially announced in mid-November 2022 and is set to make its world debut in January 2023. Mazda’s newest flagship vehicle will feature a new 6-cylinder and plug-in hybrid powertrain for sporty handling and enhanced efficiency in equal measure. Continuing the tradition of the Mazda Kodo Design philosophy, the CX-90 will stand on its own against competitors with its unique exterior design as well as the enhancements to its performance, technology and more.
Coming Up Next: the Mazda CX-70
The 2024 Mazda CX-70 is anticipated to be the next big announcement from the automotive company. It is expected to start at around $38,000 and feature the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six engine or inline four cylinder engine with a 48-volt hybrid system. Outfitted with the 48-volt system, the internal combustion engine will pair with a 17.8-kwh battery pack to produce even more power and capability. This upcoming flagship model will also likely be offered with a Hybrid engine. It has also been rumored that the CX-70 will be available in both rear wheel drive and front wheel drive.
