What We Know About its Performance

Although Mazda only gave car enthusiasts a sneak preview of the CX-60, there’s quite a bit of exciting news we know so far. The CX-60 is a new plug-in-hybrid SUV with a powertrain powerful enough to produce a total of 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a 134-horsepower electric motor. The CX-60 will also have an impressive electric range of 39 miles thanks to its 17.8-kWh battery pack. Finally, an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. With that kind of power and performance, Mazda is sure to make waves with all the vehicles on its new platform.

More Luxury than Ever

A follow up to the Mazda CX-50, the CX-60 is larger and more luxurious than previous Mazda models, as its name suggests. It also features Mazda’s new architecture with a longitudinal engine layout, pushing the vehicle upscale. Presented as a larger CX-5 with more chrome, the CX-60 features more room, more comfort, and more style.

On the inside, the luxury doesn’t stop. The CX-60’s interior is elevated above current offerings with elegant materials for the dashboard and seats including woven textiles, Nappa leather, and wood trim. It’s also a two-row model, making a perfect vehicle for families, getaways with friends, and drivers with extra cargo.

Models to Come

While the CX-60 plug-in-hybrid will only be available in Europe, Mazda’s all-new vehicle platform will yield new models coming soon. The platform will eventually support an inline-six engine with a 48-volt hybrid system. In the U.S., the CX-70 is sure to make waves in the plug-in-hybrid segment
